Occupational noise level measurement made easy Optimus+ Red sound level meters

Measuring noise at work doesn't need to be a time-consuming task. The Optimus+ Red noise at work sound level meter makes noise level measurements incredibly easy and straightfoward, as it uses advanced digital acoustic technology to save you time while capturing all essential noise level data simultaneously. The instrument captures sound pressure level (SPL), time weighted and frequency weighted values, and octave band data at the press of a single button. You'll never need to worry about missing something or choosing the wrong function: just turn it on, calibrate it, and get measuring!

By measuring every parameter you need simultaneously, you can be sure that your occupational noise survey will be comprehensive and robust, providing the level of detail required for making better-informed decisions and reporting to key stakeholders within your organisation.

All of your measurement data can be displayed on the large screen, so you can see straight away if there are any occupational noise problems in your workplace. You can easily navigate screens to see the data you need during measurements.

The Optimus+ Red is a data logging noise at work sound level meter, designed specifically to carry out noise level measurements and risk assessments in the workplace. As such, it meets the requirements as set out in the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.

With Bluetooth® connectivity, the Optimus+ Red can be connected to the dBActive smartphone application, allowing you to use your noise at work sound level meter remotely, from up to 10 metres away.

Whether you need to meet UK and EU Regulations, or measure to OSHA HC & PEL, MSHA, ACGIH, the Optimus+ Red noise at work sound level meter is the perfect solution for your needs.

The Optimus+ Red is also available as an octave band sound level meter, featuring 1:1 octave band analysis for the accurate selection of hearing protection. As it meets international standards and guidelines, it can be used for workplace risk assessments for compliance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 in the UK, as well as European Union, and US regulations. The Optimus+ Red meets OSHA, HC & PEL, MSHA and ACGIH guidelines. The Optimus+ Red noise at work sound level meter is the instrument you need in order to protect your workers from noise-induced hearing loss caused by excessive noise exposure in the workplace.

The comprehensive solution for workplace noise

UK & EU Noise at Work Regulations

If you are working to the UK Control of Noise at Work Regulations or the EU Physical Agents (Noise) Directive, the Leq View gives you the information that you need.

The LAeq and LCPeak values are measured at the same time which allow the LEP,d (LEX,8h) and the Peak Action Levels to be determined.

The LCeq-LAeq (C-A) value is also measured which can be used to select PPE using the HML method. LAE is also measured along with LZPeak for regulations that use this rather than LCPeak.

OSHA,MSHA other regulations

If you need to meet regulations such as OSHA HC & NC, MSHA HC or ACGIH, the two "virtual" noise meters in the Dose View can be quickly configured to provide you with this information.

The Quick Setup gives access to a number of preset functions including OSHA HC & NC, OSHA HC & ACGIH and MSHA HC & EC.

The custom settings can be used to choose any other setup or configuration that you may need. Once you've chosen the setup needed it will be stored so each time you use the meter you will have the information you need.

For the two "virtual" noise meters, the LAVG, TWA, % Dose and Estimated % Dose are displayed.

The C & D instruments also feature real-time octave band filters which will measure the noise in 10 different frequency bands.

The octave band measurement is made at the same time as the other measurements and includes the overall level in each band along with a time history of the bands across the measurement period.

NR & NC values & curves on screen

The D variants add NR & NC values and curves to the 1:1 octave band measurements. This information can be useful in checking the performance of HVAC systems and noise levels in rooms.

If you choose the data logging version of the Optimus Red, we'll include our NoiseTools noise analysis software so you can keep a record of your measurements. If you choose the Optimus Red with 1:1 Octave Bands, NoiseTools can also recommend hearing protection based on your data.

You can upgrade this instrument to a more advanced version of the Optimus Red or the Optimus Green at any time, future-proofing your investment.

In this day and age, you can find a smartphone app for just about everything! The convenience of having a sound level meter app on your smartphone may be tempting, but you should be extremely careful about relying too heavily on these sorts of applications. International regulations are clear: the equipment you use to measure and monitor noise in the workplace must meet strict standards.

Smartphone microphones and sound level meter apps are not compliant with these regulations, so while they may offer an indication of the sound levels in your workplace, the data they provide cannot be relied on and will not stand up to scrutiny should legal proceedings be brought against your organisation.

Using a specially designed occupational noise sound level meter for your noise at work assessments is a sure-fire way to ensure that you are properly and adequately reducing the risk of hearing loss for your employees, protecting their quality of life and your business's repuation. The Optimus+ Red is the perfect solution for all your noise at work needs.
