MSN Circuit Rally Championship – Round-up 5

On Saturday the 15th of February, Ashleigh Morris faced the circuit at Snetterton for Round 5 of the MSN Circuit Rally Championship.

Despite tricky conditions, the team had a good start to the day. Ashleigh said: “The track was damp, and it was a tough choice between intermediate and wet tyres. We went for wets which turned out to be the right decision.”

On the first stage the team had a spin due to a late call on the notes which cost them a bit of time, however they still managed to set the quickest time in the class.

By lunchtime Ashleigh was sitting 3rd in class after losing time on stage 3 and 4 due to following slower cars throughout the stages.

Speaking about the later stages, Ashleigh said: “Unfortunately on stage 5 Jamie made a wrong call on the notes and we went the wrong way, meaning we came in two laps early. This resulted in a stage maximum for that stage which added nearly three minutes onto the time we would have expected to set and dropped us down to 10th in class.”

Ashleigh and Jamie did as much as they could to make up time on the remaining three stages and managed to climb back up to 7th in class, saying: “It was a disappointing end to the day as by the times we were setting it looked as if we could have had 2nd in class, so we lost out on a class podium and valuable class points”

Team Morris will regroup and hopefully be even stronger when they head to Anglesey on Sunday the 1st of March. Anglesey is the location of Ashleigh’s first rally and one of her favourite circuits, so she’s hoping for a good result.
