Job vacancy at Cirrus – IT Supervisor

We have a new job vacancy at Cirrus, an IT Supervisor.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this role requires taking full operational responsibility for the company’s IT infrastructure and to provide IT support and development across our group of companies.

The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and should be comfortable presenting to small groups of internal staff, be personable, self-organised and able to meet deadlines.

You will be responsible for the maintenance, management and planning of the IT infrastructure, with tasks ranging from training on single software packages through to the implementation of a secure data network across various sites.

Being prepared to perform routine hardware repairs as well as plan projects is a must.

The role will be primarily based at our head office although it will also be split between two further sites within a 20 mile radius and occasionally at our other offices within mainland Europe.

The role will require a good understanding of network configuration, Windows Operating Systems (XP, WIN7), Linux Server Operating Systems (SLES10 and 11), server and desktop hardware platforms, Axigen mail server and knowledge of backup and disaster recovery.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills: 

  • Experience of Linux Server operating systems (SLES10 & 11)
  • Understanding of Microsoft Applications as well as Open Source equivalents
  • Network infrastructure knowledge (ADSL / Print Server / Router & Firewall configuration)
  • Good understanding of network configuration
  • Hardware diagnosis & problem solving
  • UK driving license and own car

In addition, if you have skills or experience in any of the following areas, this would be an advantage:

  • Backup software & disaster recovery experience.
  • An understanding of RAID
  • Software testing
