Cirrus Research plc, the UK company which specialises in the design and development of noise measurement equipment, will be showcasing instruments from its new generation of leading edge optimus’ Sound Level Meters at this year’s Safety and Health Expo at stand Q50, Hall 2.

The first two models in the optimus range will be on show. optimus red sound level meters are aimed specifically at the occupational and noise at work markets and were launched in January 2010. With ergonomically designed cases, the range offers a choice of Class 1 and Class 2 accuracy, with optional data logging and real-time octave bands.

This year’s Expo will also see the first showcase of optimus green, which in addition to all the existing features of optimus red, also includes features for environmental noise monitoring. Perfect for Environmental Health & Safety managers, optimus green provides a one stop shop for both Noise at Work and Environmental Noise measurements.

Cirrus’ optimus sound level meters feature smart design and advanced technology, and set new standards for ease of use, flexibility and practicality.

James Tingay, Group Marketing Manager for Cirrus Research plc explains:

“The research we undertook at the beginning of this project was clear: Noise measurement and health & safety professionals are looking for sound measurement equipment which is easy to use, flexible and upgradeable. Our new optimus range meets their requirements exactly.”

He continued…

“It takes just three button presses to make a noise measurement using our new optimus meter: ‘On’, ‘Calibrate’ and ‘Start’. The instrument then takes all the necessary measurements simultaneously before displaying the results on a large, easy to read colour OLED display. New software allows voice tags to be recorded for future reference. As for on-going flexibility, optimus users will be able to upgrade their instrument, at any time in the future, should their needs change.”

To ensure that the measurements made with an optimus sound level meter can be validated, all of the optimus instruments feature the unique LifeTime archive. This automatically stores the most important parameters into a protected and secure section of memory which can only be accessed and downloaded using a special software program.

Further colour coded optimus ranges are set to follow, including basic sound level meters as well as specialist, multi-use instruments.

As with all Cirrus equipment, optimus instruments are covered by Cirrus’ industry leading 12-year warranty. This provides an initial 24-month warranty which can be extended up to 12 years if the equipment is serviced and recalibrated by Cirrus every 12 months. Free backup and support, including licence-free software and updates, are provided with every Cirrus noise measurement product.

Cirrus Research plc has over 30 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of noise measurement instruments and is accredited to ISO9001:2008. During that time, the company has developed a reputation for producing robust, practical equipment which can perform in real situations. All Cirrus equipment is made in the UK and the company is responsible for all after sales service and calibration work. Spare parts and support are therefore always available.
